Film Commissioner Beverly K. Lewis shared all of the filmming locations available in the Placer-Lake Tahoe areas, and told us about other filmmakers who have chosen to shoot their films in these areas. Both Susan and Beverly were approachable and answered all of our questions. Unfortunately, scheduled speakers Sara Cooper and Cheryl McIntire had emergencies arise and could not attend.
- This was the first Women of Film Conference coordinated by TDA Entertainment designed for women who work in film and women who are seriously pursuing a career in film to network, encourage, educate, and inspire each other.
- Everyone networked immediately! Filmmakers, writers, actresses, a film commissioner, a production assistant, and a makeup artist quickly introduced themselves and discussed their experiences working in film.
- Susan Johnston traveled to Roseville from Los Angeles and educated everyone about the filmmaking process from writing a screenplay to editing the film. Also, Susan showed us a few minutes of her current project, "Room 32."
P.F. Chang's provided us with excellent food for the luncheon and the Fairfield Inn provided us with a cozy environment for a very friendly event. This was especially a treat considering the conference had a last minute change to this location. Everyone who attended this year is excited about next year's conference!
